About Color My Prof

How it All Began

Color My Prof was founded by LaShonda L. Eaddy, Ph.D., APR to diversify the communications industry by bridging the gap between the academy and industry.

The Current State of Diversity in Communications

According to 2020 U.S. Labor statistics, the communications industry lacks racial and ethnic diversity with 75 percent of the workforce being White. Research shows that diverse representation in classrooms leads to better outcomes, however, less than 13 percent of U.S. communications program faculties are from underrepresented groups.

Bridge the Diversity Gap in Communications

We believe the communications industry’s diversity gap is rooted in a lack of awareness among secondary students and lack of support for domestic minority undergraduates. Color My Prof  will bridge gaps and identify areas of synergy that become catalysts for substantive change.

How Does the Color My Prof Conference Create Impact?

The annual conference offers resources, support and fellowship for attendees including: a “crash course” in the various paths to become a college professor; insight about being a faculty member; professional development; networking;  and fellowship.
